What is a lifestyle session?

To me, lifestyle photography means creating authentic moments. During a lifestyle session, I won't spend much time posing you. Instead, I will get you to do something together as a family, and I will catch the connections between you. It could be just spending time together outside, exploring, playing. Or it could be baking together, bathing baby or just hanging out at home. Throughout the session, I will direct when needed to where the light is best to set up interaction, but all with the intention of creating genuine connections.

What is the difference between lifestyle and documentary photography?

You may hear me or other photographers refer to each of these. They are similar, but there are some key differences. During a lifestyle session, I will direct you as necessary to ensure that your images have good lighting, angles, interactions. We may plan an outing or activity. During a documentary session, I will be a fly on the wall. You go through your normal routine and I follow along, capture details as they happen with little to no direction. Documentary images won't always be perfectly lit or set up, but they will always be perfectly real.

How do I book a session with you?

It’s super easy! Just send me an email through the Inquiry form on my website, or email jenn@bluberryhillimages.com. A signed contract and retainer is required to hold your date and time, and you will pick your session package when you sign your contract. Once you do that, you'll have access to my Client Lounge and Session Guide, and I'll get you to fill out a questionnaire so we can get to know each other.

When should I book my session?

As soon as possible! It's never too early to start planning your session. That being said, it's also never too late to inquire, so get in touch any time!

What can I expect from your sessions?

You can expect to have fun! I love to capture real moments and lots of smiles and laughter. We can explore fun locations or stick to your favourite spot or stay at home. We will spend about an hour together, or as long as it takes to get lots of great shots.

My child won’t sit still for photos. How will you get photos of them?

If your children only want to run and play, I’ll chase after them! My favourite photos are of kids being kids. I love to capture them being themselves. I believe in playing tag, tickle fights and lots of laughter! If we get posed shots, that’s great too! Have a look at this blog post I did about how I deal with uncooperative subjects.

Make sure to get in touch if you have any other questions!
